Sleep beneath
a canopy that

Beaver Creek Campground sits where the Greenbrier River meets the mountains — a quiet stretch of West Virginia that has been welcoming campers for decades, long before it became a weekend destination.

About Us

Not a resort.
Something better.

Beaver Creek Campground isn't trying to be anything it's not. It's a collection of campsites tucked along a slow-moving creek, surrounded by hardwood forest and accessible only by a short drive from Route 19.

You'll find tent sites on flat ground under the trees. RV sites with level pull-throughs and electrical hookups. Firewood is available on-site because the locals know that Appalachian winters don't care about your reservations. Outhouses are clean, the river is close, and the silence is the kind you won't find anywhere else in the state.

The Experience

What you'll actually do here

Hiking the Greenbrier River Trail

A 75-mile rail-to-trail path runs right through Marlinton. Pack a lunch and walk along the river — it's flat, shaded, and the kind of hiking where you actually hear yourself think.

Kayaking the Greenbrier

The river below Marlinton is one of the most popular flatwater kayaking stretches in the state. Bring your own gear or rent from a local outfitter — the water is calm and the scenery is relentless.

Nights Around the Fire

Every site has a fire ring. The stars here are visible without any light pollution. This is the part people remember — the crackle, the cold air, the silence between conversations.

New River Gorge

A 30-minute drive gets you to the National Recreation Area — bridges, cliff faces, world-class rock climbing, and one of the most famous river runs in the country.

Monongahela National Forest

Over a million acres of protected forest at your doorstep. Backcountry trails, high-elevation vistas, and wilderness areas that feel a thousand miles from anywhere.

Marlinton Town

The county seat of Alleghany is five minutes away — a grocery store, a few restaurants, a pharmacy, and the kind of main street where people still wave at each other.

We're off Coonskin Road, just outside Marlinton — the county seat of Alleghany County and the highest incorporated town in West Virginia at 3,095 feet. Route 19 runs right through town, and Route 219 is a short drive south toward Fayetteville and the New River Gorge.

If you're coming from the east on I-64, take US-219 south through Beckley, then Route 19 west. From the north, I-81 gets you to White Sulphur Springs, then Route 202 south to Route 19 east. You'll know you're close when the cell signal drops and the trees get louder.
